Two workshops will draw the attendees’ attention
Ari Colares, in the musical area, and Reinaldo Soares, in the area of dance, will be giving two “classes” in which Brazilian rhythms set the tone.

The theme of Ari Colares’s workshop is Living with Brazilian percussion and rhythms. Designed so that it may offer the attendee a playful experience of a musical construction based on improvisation and on the pratice of Brazilian popular rhythms, the workshop will involve the use of several percussion instruments, of different sorts of timbres— animal skins, wood, metals, seeds etc— and pitches—high, medium and low.
In its first part, the percussion instruments will be presented, an emphasis being placed on the pandeiro. After demos have been given by the coordinator, participants will be invited to take part in a collective-created musical piece.

Ari Colares is a percussionist and a researcher on Brazilian musical diversity. He has already performed alongside several artists, such as Benjamim Taubkin, Naná Vasconcelos, Egberto Gismonti, Cesar Camargo Mariano, Yamandu Costa, Toninho Ferragutti, Nailor Proveta, Mônica Salmaso and Zizi Possi, among others.
